Critical Inquiry: A Workshop in the Visual Arts
Taught by Marcia Rackow, Carrie Wilson, and Ken Kimmelman
This class is temporarily postponed, due to Covid-19.
Works in process by persons engaged in the visual arts—painting, sculpture, printmaking, photography—are looked at and discussed with Eli Siegel’s 15 Questions, “Is Beauty the Making One of Opposites?,” as the critical criterion. There is class discussion, and some questions asked are: What is your intention? What is the relation of your subject matter and your technique? As an artist, what do you hope for?
This dynamic and historic class was begun, and taught for many years, by Dorothy Koppelman, artist, Aesthetic Realism consultant, founding director of the Terrain Gallery, who died on October 25, 2017 at the age of 97.
